Q. Which material is better - Neon or Yellow?
A. All kits are supplied in 3M Engineering Grade Red reflective with either Neon Yellow Fluorescent or Primrose Yellow vinyl. The Neon material is very bright, but can 'burn out' over a period of 1-3 years, depending on the exposure to sunlight. We recommend Primrose yellow as it provides an excellent contrast to the red for daytime visibility, and the red provides excellent reflectivity for night-time visibility.
Q. What markings do I need?
A. Please see our factfile section for full details on the requirements laid down in the Chapter 8 regulations of the Traffic Signs Manual published by the Department for Transport. But in essence, all vehicles working on, or near, the UK highways, should have:
- Markings which cover as much of the rear-facing portion of the vehicle as possible without obscuring windows, vehicle lighting or registration plates.
- Red retroreflective tape applied to all rear facing edges of open doors, guardrails and equipment lockers.
